AGARTALA, March 1 (TIWN): There has been allegation against the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) over the delivery of large-amount inappropriate bills to the consumers across the state.
As a result, reportedly, anger is brewed among a section of electricity consumers after receiving extraneous large-amount bills generated by the TSECL. In spite of several complaints lodged by the consumers, the TSECL authority remained tight-lipped over the issue.
According to a power user, the TSECL has delivered a bill showing that 139 units were used in last month at the time when he along with other family members was in somewhere else outside of the state. “In our absence, there was no chance of use power in my house”, he added.
He further alleged that the wrong bill might have generated due to the poor monitoring by TSECL authority or some technical problems in electric meter.
According to an official source, over-charging of bills turned a major concern now-a-days. The highest number of complaints was received from the power consumers of West district and South Tripura district and most of which were pertaining to overcharging.
In a review meeting, the TSECL staffs were directed to ensure error-free bills to every consumer on time. Besides, all the concerned officials were directed to observe whether the staffs engaged in billing system are checking the meter properly or not and to take appropriate steps against those staffs, who avoid their duties increasing pendency of works, said a TSECL source.
Even with the several initiatives taken by TSECL to ensure error-free bills, some of the power consumers are getting faulty large-amount bills till date.
