Agartala, February 28 (TIWN): State Government demanded Rs. 401 crore to the Central for the allocation of funds in the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA). Recently a high level meeting was been held to discuss the prominent issues of Sarba Siksha. It is to be mentioned that this year double allocation was being demanded.

The high level meeting was attended by Secretary of Union Human Resource Development, Brinda Swarup, Financial Advisor, Nagesh Singh, and Minakshi Jalil. From the State Government, Principal Secretary of School Education Department, K. Rajeshwar Rao, Deputy Director, Pradip Chakraborty, Director of  SSA, Uttam Kumar Chakma, Additional Director, Ajit Chandra Das.
The meeting was held through video conferencing.
The State Government had earlier sent a letter to Central for the allocation of funds and the regularization of teachers. In reply, Central Government informed that the allocation of funds fall under the sphere of them, but regularization simply depends on the State. In the meantime, Central Government had decided to release the pending money of 77 crore for the year 2015-16.
More than 500 members of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Teachers' Welfare Association to press their demand for regularization of services. The process of regularization of SSA teachers started more than two years ago. "The secretary approved regularization of SSA teachers on August 26, 2011 and the MHRD; New Delhi directed the education department to regularize SSA teachers in a meeting of the Project Approval Board on March 14, 2011 and February 27, 2012 respectively.
Regularization is also important in the spirit of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Right to Education Act, 2009 which stipulated the teacher-pupil ratio to 1:40 and 1:35 for primary and upper primary classes respectively. This ratio cannot be left to contractual teachers who generally leave the job for regular jobs,” 5,000 posts are still vacant in School Education Department. In a question raised in the Assembly session, Education Minister Tapan Chakraborty informed this. Still now, present status is 44, 704 and 39, 637 are still working- Minister further added.
However, the tenure of the teachers for five years in Sarba Siksha Abhiyan was completed. Till now, there are 2443 Post Graduate Teachers and 2389 Graduate teachers.  While, Tripura government demands working round the clock to provide employment for the unemployed youths of the state’.
But the scenario is completely reversed.
In order to save their position, Tripura government is not against introducing unemployment allowances for the unemployed youths of the state and the government will look into the issue if the financial position of the state improves.
