AGARTALA, February 20 (TIWN): “Why the FIR has not been lodged against the rest of the accused Blocks of the state based on the audit report except the Bishalghar RD block”, questioned opposition leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman addressing his speech during the assembly session recently. Barman also slammed Chief Minister Manik Sarkar over his remark – “there are no other corrupted blocks except Bishalgarh RD Block”. While the next day after the remark of Manik Sarkar at least two corrupted officials have been arrested in charge of embezzlement of money under Sathchand RD Block, Barman stressed. Raising the block level corruption issue here in Tripura, the opposition leader and MLA Ratan Lal Nath during the assembly session recently said that the cleanage govt. in Tripura has now turned to a corrupted govt., with the Chief Minister Manik Sarkar taking no legal action against the rest of the RD Blocks of the state, that were accused of corruption other than the Bishalghar RD Block.

However later, slamming the state govt. during the assembly session over CM Manik Sarkar’s remark, “there are no other corrupted blocks in the state other than the Bishalghar RD Block”, Barman questioned that “why the state govt. has not taken any legal action against the rest of the RD Blocks based on the audit reports other than the Bishalghar Block”.

Besides, Mr. Barman said that Badal Choudhury was removed from his former portfolio of Finance Minister on May 19 and was allocated the charge of Health and family Welfare on May 23 just to cover up the corruptions under the carpet. While the Minister of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Bhanulal Saha was given the additional charge of the Finance Department. In the meantime, Bimal Chakraborty was made deputy director of ICA on the advice of the Chief Minister to protect him from the scam, Barman said.

However later, bringing a sketchy attack on the state govt. Barman stated that this is what called the model state of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar when the state govt. here has nothing to do with the corruption and scams and has not taken any legal steps so far against the other rest of the accused blocks of the state, saying that there is no other corrupted blocks other than the Bishalghar.

The uninterrupted 21-year stint in power seems to have taken a toll on the financial transparency of the Left Front administration in Tripura. Corruption in implementation of rural development schemes continues unabated. There is a state government of Tripura eats up all the money which comes from the central government for development, he alleged.
