Tripura teachers to be recruited under NCTE guidelines: State govt. frames no new employment policy, replies Minister Tapan Chakroborty on un-starred question in Assembly Session

AGARTALA, February 20 (TIWN): Tripura govt. has constituted no new employment policy changing the old recruitment rules in regard of recruiting the teachers, irrespective of new policy, the teachers will be recruited following the NCTE guidelines, said Minister Tapan Chakroborty replying to the un-starred question moved by the opposition bench during the assembly session recently. Besides, the NCTE guideline was slated to be followed from December 24, 2014, said Minister. Replying to a un-starred question moved by the opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath during the assembly session recently Minister Tapan Chakroborty stated that during the year 2014, December 24, the state govt. has taken up the recruitment of the teachers under the NCTE guidelines. But the state govt. has not constituted any further employment policy in this regard as of now, Chakroborty said.

Referring to the difference between the old and the new policy of the state Govt. Chakroborty said that the minimum qualification for the primary teachers will be Higher Secondary pass; whereas earlier it was minimum of Madhyamik Pass, while the state govt. under the guidelines of NCTE has taken up certain elementary training for the recruitment of the teachers, Chakroborty further added.  

However, but is mentionable here that according to the NCTE guidelines passing the TET is compulsory. The TET examination will be in two sections - Paper 1 for teachers upto class five and Paper 2 upto class eight. In each paper there shall be examination in six sections and the total mark of 150 and to qualify the candidate has to get at least 60 percent mark. In this regard Chakroborty earlier mentioned that TET pass certificate shall be valid for seven years and it is not mandatory that if anyone pass the TET examination shall be entitled to get a job but they shall be getting preference and according to the mark scored.

He also informed that there shall be a Teacher's Recruitment Board consisting of five members including renowned educationist, former college teacher, principal or university teacher and a nominated member of the state government.

Besides, replying to another un-starred question moved by Nath recently in the assemble session Chakroborty said that the School Education Department has introduced the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system in teaching-learning process at elementary level of school education from the year 2015. He said that the system would be implemented from standard one to eight to ensure the quality education.
