School Education: 46 pc GTs (Secondary), 61 pc GTs (elementary) and 66 pc UGTs still remained untrained in Tripura

Agartala, February 19 (TIWN): An average of 46 percent Graduate Teachers (Secondary), 61 percent Graduate Teachers (Elementary) and 66 percent Under Graduate Teachers are still remained untrained in the different government schools under School Education Department in Tripura, said Minister Tapan Chakraborty on a starred question raised by opposition MLA Ratan Lal Nath during the annual session in Tripura Assembly.

Explaining the reason behind not providing training, Chakraborty stated that due to the dearth of training centers, the concerned department failed to provide training on time.

The education minister further informed that the department has been providing training to the untrained teachers since July, last year. “Altogether 3000 graduate teachers (elementary) are being trained by IGNOU in 30 centers while rest of the untrained teacher will be covered under this training soon”, said Chakraborty.

Replying on an un-starred question moved by opposition MLA Ratanlal Nath, according to the latest report available with the higher education department, as many as 24 students during last year and a total of 30 students in the year 2013 were moved outside of the state to acquire technical learning, said the education minister in the Tripura assembly. Apart from technical education, no such information is available with the higher education department, added Chakraborty.

On the other hand, no hostel is available in 24 government degree collages while the state government has already been taken initiative to set up boys and girls hostel in the different sub-divisions, replied Chakraborty on an un-starred question raised by MLA Ratanlal Nath.

At present, only six government degree colleges- Agartala Women’s College, ICV College (Belonia), Kamalpur Government College, Kabi Nazrul College (Sonamura), Dharmanagar Degree College and Netaji Subhash College (Udaipur) have own hostels, stated higher education minister in Tripura Assembly.
