Agartala, February 19 (TIWN): 2, 81,081 persons were covered under the social allowance scheme in the recent years.

In a written reply on Tuesday, against the question raised by MLA Ratan lal Nath and Manindra Chandra Das, Minister of Social Welfare and Education, Bijita Nath had informed the report and give a detailed sketch of the top most schemes

 Among the social allowance scheme, three are sponsored by Central government namely Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Scheme (IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disabled Scheme (IGNDPS). Apart from that the State Government controls other 20 schemes likely to be, 100 percent disabled allowance (APL), Widow and divorced allowance, Above 60 percent disabled allowance (BPL), Unemployed blind allowance, Blind and Disable allowance, Girl Child allowance, Handloom allowance, State Old Age allowance, Widow allowance etc.

Other than that the application filed in Indira Gandhi National Old Age allowance is 10860, Indira Gandhi National Disabled allowance is 545 and Girl Child Allowance is 8202. In the meantime, the persons above 80 years of age get an allowance of Rs 700.
