AGARTALA, February 18 (TIWN): keep-in babugiri trend of the unruly auto drivers prevails. Violating the law and order of the Tripura transport department and the High Court order, the unruly auto drivers across the capital city are found carrying maximum passengers, while the department is in yawning siesta with no necessary steps has been taken till today against the CITU baked auto drivers. Besides, the recently fixed auto-rickshaw fare charts has brought no change to the unruly auto drivers across the capital city with the drivers charging high fares if the passenger fails to give change.

Yet after putting restrictions on the auto drivers here in Tripura for not carrying more than three passengers, the unruly auto rickshaw driver across the capital city has been found recently violating the rules and regulations of the High Court and the transport department keeps in their babugiri trend by carrying more than three passengers on auto. The Transport department during the year 2014 putting a restriction on the auto rickshaw vehicles decided stringent measures would be taken as per motor vehicle act for other passenger carrying vehicles in violation of passenger limit of the respective vehicles. But till today the department has failed to bring a control over the worsen situation.

It has also been noticed that a section of unruly auto drivers carries maximum passengers and let the extra passengers climb down after reaching near to the police barricades. And later again crossing the barricade the drivers picks those passengers again and ply their auto.

Besides, the drivers were also witnessed to be taking fares from an individual for per km whereas the recently fixed auto-rickshaw fare chart mentioned below: “Fare for auto-rickshaw for full capacity for petrol Rs. 6.00 per kilometer and CNG Rs. 5.50 per kilometer”, and the trend of “Give change or else high fare” still prevails. Therefore it is mentionable here that the new rate charts has brought no change to the unruly auto drivers and has kept same for the deprived passengers.

The warning by the state govt. and the recent verdict of the HC to fix a rate chart on the three wheelers and others seems to have bowed down in front of the unruly auto drivers here at the capital city. It is mentionable here that inspite of giving show off warnings the state govt. supposed to have save the deprived passengers from the hand of the unruly auto drivers. Besides, it may me mentioned here that the transport department has been playing a role of a silent spectator with yawning in siesta in regard of taking legal action against the CITU baked unruly drivers.

During the year 2014, Transport Minister Manik Dey said that the Transport department will take action if drivers do not follow fare rules set by the Transport department and High Court of Tripura, but till today the department has not been found taking single legal steps against the drivers of the auto rickshaw, with the unruly drivers getting an opportunity to keep in their own trend of violating the rules and regulations.
