 TRRDA set target to construct 625 km road under PMGSY in current fiscal

Agartala, February 18 (TIWN): In an order to connect all the remote hamlets by constructing all-season suitable road, Tripura Rural Road Development Agency (TRRDA) aimed to complete construction work for a total of 625 km road at an estimated cost of Rs. 500 crore under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the current fiscal.

It was informed by the Minister Badal Chowdhury in reply of a calling attention notice made by MLAs- Padma Kumar Debbarma, Manindra Chandra Das and Tunu Bala Malakar in the Tripura Assembly’s annual budget session.

In the written reply, Chowdhury further mentioned that according to a decision adopted by the Central Government, all the undergoing constructions of different roads under PMGSY are likely to be completed by the financial year 2016-17.

A sum of Rs. 500 crore is required for the completion of all undergoing works approved by Central Government during the current fiscal.

He further mentioned that a total of Rs. 185.73 crore has been allotted by the central government in the current financial year.

But the TRRDA has already spent Rs. 370 crore till January 31, 2015. Minimum Rs. 200 crore is required for the rest two months (February, March) of current financial year.

Therefore, he made an appeal to the Tripura Assembly to send a proposal seeking allotment of Rs 500 crore during current fiscal for the interest of ongoing works under PMGSY.

Among 8132 hamlets, road connectivity was done in 3211 settlements (2638 km) by the concerned department under PMGSY till January 31, 2015 while constructions of 975 km road covering 849 hamlets are in progress. At present, making of DPR for more 220 km road covering 144 localities is in progress.
