AGARTALA, February 17 (TIWN): National Students Union of India (NSUI) Tripura unit will organize its state level convention on February 19 at Kamalpur to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru.
Speaking to the reporters today at NSUI office national secretary incharge of Tripura Deepak Negi said that Jawaharlal Nehru cannot be seen merely as an object of history, a fragment of policy. He was a dream, a hope, a claim to innocence, an aesthetic which gave to modernity a touch of elegance. The first Prime Minister of the country was the architect of modern India and a man of vision.
He further added that no other nation saw science as a dream. The Russians and the West saw it as a tool of economic development. Nehru insisted science was culture, a form of playfulness, providing a sense of discovery and excitement. This was a man who felt that science would prolong his discovery of India and even the world, he mentioned.
Nehru was born to Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani on November 14, 1889, in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and his birthday is celebrated as Children's Day in India as he was fond of kids.
