Multi-crore MGNREGA scam: 9 APs including kingpin Bimal to be produced before court on February 26, two APs still at large

AGARTALA, February 16 (TIWN): Even after a considerable period of lodging FIR, of the total FIR named accused persons into multi-crore MGNREGA scam in Bishalghar RD Block, Debprasad Nandi (Gram Rojkar Sevak) and Mita Malakar (Junior Engineer) are still remained at large.Referring the issue, “Mita Malakar might have fled away in Karimganj or Silchar of Assam for which the investigation team could not detain her till date by tracking her mobile number. But she will be arrested soon once her exact location is traced”, said police. Asked about Debprasad Nandi, “158 Bn Border Security Force (BSF) will host a flag meeting with the Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) soon for bringing Debprasad Nandi, a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) in his own land from Bangladesh”, said the official of police department.On the other hand, altogether 9 FIR named accused persons of massive financial irregularities in Bishalghar RD Block- Chayan Nandi (Technical Assistant), Kishore Banik (Technical Assistant), Nibash Pal (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Partha Sarkar (Jr. Mechanical Engineer), Goutam Pal (Junior Technician), Shayamal Debbarma (GRS), Sarada Debbarma (GRS) and Subir Ukil (Work Assistant) and kingpin Bimal Chakraborty will be produced before the Additional District and Sessions Court on February 26, he added.

 In course of non-custody trial, scamster Bimal Chakraborty’s bail plea is likely to be accepted by the court reportedly after the completion of 180 days of his arrest otherwise there is no probability of granting bail order, said police.


Sharing the progress of investigation, “It is revealed by the arrested or surrendered persons during interrogation that a large amount of allocated funds under MGNREGA in Bishalghar RD Block were used for the implementation of other works. The further investigation into the multi-crore scam will be accelerated once Debprasad and Mita are arrested”, said police.
