Agartala, Feb 14 (TIWN):The members of the opposition benches walked out of the House amidst ongoing business session on Friday protesting issues relating to Tripura Government’s stand on Non Banking Financial Institutions or chit fund.

After the business began in the House in the first half of the day, the opposition benches highlighted a statement contained in para no.
10 of the budget proposal where the government guaranteed cent percent protection of the investments made by the depositors in the Non Banking Financial Institutions. The opposition benches sought clarification of the statement which provoked confusion, as the government, beforehand, asked people to opt for banks rather than NBFIs.
Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha ruled out the issue and asked that the same would be discussed in the House on February 18 as per the schedule.
“We seek clarification of the concept mentioned in the budget proposal in the first half of the business. But the Finance Minister totally avoided the issue saying that it will be discussed on February 18,”Opposition Leader Sudip Roy Barman said.
As the opposition stick to the issue, Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar adjourned the House on 12.50 PM, ten minutes before the time. However, the business was resumed at 2.00 PM.
The Opposition again pressed for clarification of the statement and staged protests in the Well due to which the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House at 2.10 PM. Later, it resumed after 10 minutes.
The opposition stick to their demand to accept the statements contained in the budget proposal or withdraw the para 10.
As the controversy reaches the peak, Bhanulal Saha admitted that the paragraph mentioned in the budget proposal was ‘correct.’
