AGARTALA, Oct 11 (TIWN): A disturbing incident of violence has come to light in Sonamura, where a woman leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was allegedly attacked by a booth president of the same party. The victim, Manika Sarkar Nama, filed a complaint with the Sonamura police station against the booth president, Subhash Chandra Nama
According to reports, the incident occurred on the day of Durga Puja's Dashami celebration, when Nama's daughter was collecting Prasad from a nearby Durga Mandap. Subhash Chandra Nama, the booth president, allegedly attacked Manika Sarkar Nama with false accusations, in front of her daughter and several others.
The matter was initially tried to be settled amicably, but when that failed, the victim was forced to lodge a complaint with the police. The family is now waiting to see what action the police take against the accused booth president.
