AGARTALA, Sep 11 (TIWN): Congress MLA Sudip Barman reacted to Tipra Motha party founding leader Pradyot Debbarma's recent comment about being the "owner of Agartala." During a party program held in Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Debbarma claimed that the owner of Agartala is him. He also referred to the subdivisions of Tripura, indicating that he is the royal family's heir. Reacting to the comment. MLA Sudip Barman said, "I'm sorry to say, but India is a sovereign country and there is no princely state.

Barman anticipated that Pradyot Debbarma's comment had a vote bank intention behind it and was to shift people's focus from the main issues to a controversy ahead of ADC election.

"I think he said this out of frustration. So many promises were made but could not be fulfilled and so he attempted to divert the matter, added Barman.
