AGARTALA, Aug 21 (TIWN): Local people in Sidhai gheraoed police station demanding arrest of a housewife for allegedly throwing acid on her husband. According to local people, on Wednesday at 10 am, wife Sumitra Debbarma, who was riding on his husband's bike in the Takar Nagar area, poured acid on her husband Shibaji Debbarma's head. After that, he was rushed to the local hospital, but seeing his condition was serious, he was referred to GB hospital.

Local people on Thursday gheraoed Sidhai police station, after the police did not arrest her even after filing an FIR at the police station.

The police have assured them that appropriate actions will be taken against the accused wife and she will be arrested.
