Digitalisation of ration cards to be completed by March 31, 2015: Minister Bhanulal Saha; New gas bottling plant to be introduced soon: Saha on day-2 assembly session

AGARTALA, February 10 (TIWN): Providence of digitalised ration cards to the consumers is expected to be completed by March 31, 2015, said Tripura Food Minister Bhanulal Saha replying to a written question raised by the opposition bench here at the assembly session on Day-2. Besides, on another question raised by the Opposition MLA Ashish Kumar Saha, Minister Bhanulal Saha mentioned, “the IOCL has taken a step to introduce another new gas bottling plant, and it would be operational within a couple of month”.

Replying to a written question of Opposition MLA Ashish Saha during the Day-2 assembly session, State Food Minister Bhanulal Saha said “the state govt. has always been in contact with the Union Ministry of Oil and Petroleum and the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. to hike the bottling capacity of Bishalgarh bottling Plant and to meet enough to the demand of cooking gas cylinders”.
Adding to that Minister Bhanulal Saha mentioned that at present the Bishalgarh gas bottling plant has its capacity to bottle 83 metric tons of gas daily, while the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has been looking forward to take the figure of its capacity to 450 MT.
Besides, Saha said that the IOCL has also taken certain steps to introduce another gas bottling plant here in Tripura, following the acquisition of land is under process. The plant is expected to be made operational by a couple of months, said Saha.
However, sideling another issue on his reply Mr. Saha said that the digitalisation of the ration cards for the consumers will be completed by March 31, 2015.
However it is mentionable here that Tripura government has planned to digitize the operations of its Public Distribution System (PDS) to eliminate duplicate and bogus ration cards.
Earlier Tripura Food and Civil Supplies Minister Mr Bhanulal Saha said that the State Food Department and National Informatics Center (NIC) are jointly working on this scheme while Tata Consultancy Serivce is doing the data entry work across the state. Saha has also said that Central Government has approved a scheme to cover digitization of ration cards and other databases, supply-chain management, setting up of transparency portal and grievance redress mechanism on cost sharing basis with different states including Tripura.
