 Day-3 assembly session adjourned in wake of communist Leader Lt. Anil Sarkar’s death: BAC meeting called today evening

AGARTALA, February 10 (TIWN): The Day-3 assembly session today adjourned paying condolence to the death to veteran communist leader Lt. Anil Sarkar, with the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting called today evening at 4:40pm in the assembly.

The 10-day Budget Session of the Tripura Assembly  began on February 6. Today the Day-3 assembly session that was scheduled to deal the annual budget for 2015-16 financial year adjourned in wake of the death of veteran leader Anil Sarkar. The assembly today kick started from 11:00am as usual and then it adjourned the session paying a condolence to the death of Lt. Anil Sarkar. The assembly will remain adjourned till Wednesday 11:00am.

However following the adjournment of the assembly session a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting was called at the assembly today evening at around 4:30pm. The meeting is expected to take up the issues relating to the annual budget scheduled to be tabled today during the Day-3 session.

Finance Minister Bhanu Lal Saha was scheduled to table the Budget for 2015-16 financial year.

Besides the tabling and approval of the Budget for 2015-16 financial year, a Bill seeking establishing of a state-run university was scheduled to be tabled in the House for consideration. If the Bill gets House nod, the State government plans to launch the university – proposed to be named Maharaja Bir Bikram University – from the next academic session. Tripura has two varsities – Tripura Central University and ICFAI University. Along with the amendment of Lokayukta bill was also scheduled to be tabled today at the assembly session.

However, so far the Budget session has passed stormy with the Opposition Congress legislators contemplating piling heat on the government over the corruption and chit fund issues
