AGARTALA, July 30 (TIWN): CPI-M candidate for local body poll, Badal Shil was brutally murdered in Belonia in July 2024. The incident stirred protests across the state and police arrested the accused persons who were involved in the murder. This week, accused persons were released from jail on bail and allegedly started threatening the slain communist leader’s family members.
On Wednesday, Badal Shil’s wife Priyanki Dey reached the High Court for justice alongside seeking protection for her family.
Talking to the media, the woman accused the police are failing to protect her family, and that’s why she is bound to seek support from the High Court.
“The faith was more on the police earlier, but it seems now the faith is trailing,” she told the media.
“It was a brutal murder, and that happened in front of the public. But they got bail this week and are now released. I want justice for my husband and also protection for my daughter and me,” she added.
She named Pinku Poddar, Manoranjan Tripura, Pradip Nama, Babul Das, Bishuranjan Das, Amal Das, Joggeswar Das, and Mithun Debnath are the culprits, but Mithun Debnath was never arrested, even though she appealed to the police multiple times.
