The incident occurred when a bike accident victim, Kartik Das, a member of Chittaranjan Club, was being rushed to GB Hospital in Agartala after being referred from Unakoti District Hospital. Despite showing the referral papers, the petrol pump staff refused to provide fuel without police permission, sparking frustration among the club members.

 

The situation was eventually resolved after intervention from journalists. The club members expressed outrage over the delay, questioning the loss of humanity in such situations. This is reportedly not the first instance of such a delay at the petrol pump.
