Palatana OTPC Unit-I generates Avg.7.50 MU of power daily: Tripura power department replied on assembly session

AGARTALA / UDAIPUR, February 10 (TIWN): Palatana OTPC Unit-I generates on an average of 7.50 Million Unit of power daily from its gas based thermal power project, with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has not yet fixed the costs price of the commercial generation of its power, replied the state power department to the issue raised by the opposition at the assembly session on Monday.On a written question to the Tripura Power department by the opposition MLA Ashish Kumar Saha during the assembly session today the department on its reply said that as per the report from the ONGC Tripura Power Company Limited the Palatana OTPC Unit-I currently generates on an average of 7.50 Million Unit of power daily basis. Beside the department on another reply said that the Central Electricity Regulatory Committee has not yet finalized the costs for the commercial generation of power from the Palatana OTPC gas based thermal power project.Adding to that the department on its written reply mentioned that as per the temporary arrangement, the OTPC is charging Rs. 2.56 for it’s per unit of power.

Besides, the PGCIL takes charge of Rs. 0.48 for point of connection and Power System Operation Corporation.
On another issue raised by the opposition MLA Ashish Saha, the power department on its written reply said that the Dumbur Hydro-electricity project generates on an average of 8 MW of power during the rainy season, while during the dry season it generates at least 3 MW of power.
Later on a question raised by Saha, the department replied that as per the central govt. policy and the rules the power tariff will be add the power transportation, allocation, maintenance and infrastructural development to Rs. 1.06 ammount of money spend for per unit in regard of the power generation from the Dumbur hydro electricity project.
However, later on another question by the opposition on the issue of any new power project of the state govt. coming up next, the state power department said that as of now the state govt. has not taken up any new power project. But, the state govt. has taken certain steps to start another scheme on a joint collaboration of TSECL and NEEPCO to hike the power generation from the Baramura and Rukhia power plant.
