Amid several crimes against women including atrocities on women, rape incidents, murder post rape, and dowry deaths of house wives in the so called ‘golden era’ of CPI-M ruled state government, the women in Tripura remained entirely unsafe till date, said general secretary of BSD- Nakul Das in a press conference here today.

 

Criticizing the state government’s role over the issues, he further said, “After commissioning any such crime, the culprits are getting shelters from the ruling front.”

 

Similarly, though, crimes against women are alarmingly increased in Tripura; the police administration is not taking any stern action against the accused persons under the political influence. The police department is completely failed to maintain law and order in the state, added Das.

 

“The state government is playing ‘inactive role’ to fulfill over 45000 vacant posts in various departments”, said Das. The state government is also maintaining silence over the creation of employment for 7 lakh unemployed youths in the state, Das added.

 

“Bodhjungnagar industrial hub in the state turned safe haven for the mafias with the help of a section of CPI-M leaders. No such commendable idea was taken to extend the industry in the state. Due to the negligence of state government, shutters of jute mill and TRTC are likely to be closed”, said Das.

 

Following the issues, BSD and JDU decided to stage the mass demonstration jointly with 12-point charter of demands infornt of Gandhi statue at Circuit House on March 2.
