Agartala, February 9 (TIWN): Picture of Government’s deprivation again witnessed by the citizens of Tripura. While other States announced a large sum of financial reward to their prides and glory, in the sports field and National Games, Tripura Government denies honoring any financial reward to the 5 gold medal winners Dipa Karmakar. It is to be mention here that Dipa had successfully bagged 5 gold medals in the recently held National Games at Kerela.

During the zero hour of the Assembly session, on Monday, Sports Minister Shahid Choudhury only displayed their lip-service responsibility by congraluting Dipa on her splendid success.
Immediately, the opposition raised their voice about the financial reward given to Dipa.
In reply, Mr. Choudhury mentioned that, there is no Act to present any financial reward to any sports persons who has bagged achievement.
Despite that felicitation is the memento of courtesy. Minister shown negative attitude by quoting,” Why there is need of any financial Statement?”
Whereas, North East Sports Council announced Rs 3 lakhs for each gold for the winners of the North East.
So, Dipa will receive a total of 15 lakhs from the Council. Not only that the other States of North East pay Rs 3 lakhs, Rs 2 lakhs to their sports personalities.
Even, small State Manipur announced 1 lakh to the medal winners. But Tripura Government expressed satisfaction by giving felicitation and employement to Dipa and her coach.
On the other hand, Dipa also expressed her grievance over the attitude of State Government. She said, “After achieving the grand success, no initiative had been taken on behalf of State Government to establish infrastructure which in some extent acts as a barrier for the sports person and Gymnastics of this small hilly State.
Golden Girl of Tripura,”Dipa Karmakar” again makes the people of Tripura proud by securing 5 Gold Medals in the recently held 35th National Games at Kerela. Dipa is the first Indian woman gymnast to fetch a Commonwealth Games bronze, was way ahead of competition as she repeated her 2011 edition's show to be the top performer yet again, clinching the yellow metal in individual all-round, table vault, balancing beam, uneven parallel bars and floor exercises. Dipa, who accumulated 52.100 points in all, is the only medalist that Tripura has so far in the meet.
