AGARTALA, June 29 (TIWN): With the jaundice outbreak, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, along with his team, visited house to house on Sunday, talked to the locals at Master Para, in Bordowali where over 60 persons have been affected, including children with the waterborne disease. The DM has issued an order to check the water quality and asked the DWS to initiate a survey for sample collection. DM said, so far, this situation can not be considered an epidemic, but the area has been put under observation.
Talking to the media, Kumar said, “Since 22nd June, Ward No-32 locality’s many residents complained about fever and other symptoms related to jaundice. Especially young children have been suffering from hepatitis. The information led us to visit the area.”
The administrative team, including DWS, CMO, District Office, Municipal officials, and public representatives, accompanied the DM during the visit, following a meeting.
“According to the allegations, impurity was found in the drinking water. So, the DWS and Municipality were instructed to check the water quality at every household, and a pipeline survey was also ordered,” said the DM. “Old pipelines would be replaced, and the ongoing pipeline works were instructed to be done carefully so that no drain water can get into the pipelines.”

The Municipality also instructed Master Para residents to boil the water before drinking for the next 15 days.
West District DM also assured full medical support to the locals.
Water samples have so far been negative, but a deeper survey will be conducted, according to the DM.
Over 50 people were found with jaundice symptoms, and around 15 were diagnosed with the disease.
