AGARTALA, May 26 (TIWN): A seven years old girl was raped in AD Nagar area, that has caused mass-anger. Locals today met MLA Ram Prasad Roy demanding severe punishment to the culprit. Police have arrested one person named Prasenjit Pal in this incident and taken him into custody. Today locals, after meeting the local MLA said that they are hopeful the culprit will get the highest level of punishment. “All we want is severe punishment to the culprit and justice for the victim's family,” said a local agitator.
The MLA assured the locals that a strict eye will be kept on the police too so that the investigation goes in the correct way.
The incident happened in Ward No. 44 area, under AD Nagar PS.
Based on a complaint, West Agartala police arrested a 32-year-old man named Prasenjit Pal on May 24.
Talking to media, SDPO Deba Prasad Roy said, “On 19th May, a case was registered at West Agartala Women PS accusing a neighbor of raping her.”
“It was alleged that after raping, the victim was threatened and she did not tell her parents but gradually, she was falling sick. Accordingly, she was taken to the hospital where she was immediately admitted,” said the cop.
“It was known from medical test that she was raped and based on that the complaint was lodged. Police have arrested the accused,” Roy said.
