Water scarcity in different Schools and AWCs affects midday meal scheme in South Tripura

Belonia/ Satirbazar / Hrishyamukh ,Feb 9 (TIWN): The drinking water crisis in parts of Hrishyamukh Block village forcing residents to travel far in search of two pots of water.

The task is that much more arduous for midday meal workers, who have to struggle to fetch water for students in many Awanwadi center, JB School and SB School under Hrishyamukh RD Block.

More then 12 School and 15 AWC centers is having no water source under Hrishyamukh RD Block.Krishnananagr SB School, Sal Choudhury JB School,Purba Sri pur JB School ,Haripur SB School is having no water source and also Water Tap is also presently disorder.
At least 200 to 300 litres of water is required for cooking, drinking and cleaning at a school for students.It is the responsibility of cooks hired under the midday meal scheme to keep food ready by lunch time.
And, with frequent power cuts disrupting drinking water supply under the mini-water supply scheme, and bore wells going dry, workers have to go in search of hand-pumps or bore wells from which to fetch water.
Watermen in the village release water only when there is power.
There is usually a long queue in front of all taps. It is difficult to get sufficient water as power supply is limited. Ultimately it  affects midday meal scheme of children in school.
