KAMALPUR, Feb 8 (TIWN): The work of road and bridge maintenance started in 2003. The works of road maintenance completed. In 2006 the State government took the road and bridges from BRO. But still the bridges remained incomplete. More importantly, the BRO and State Government put blames on one another. In this tug of war, the commoners remained the worst sufferers.

In 2003, the BRO was entitled to do maintenance and renovation works of road and bridges of Kamalpur-Ambassa road.

After completion of road works, the agency initiated to build bridges at Kuali, Rakhaltali, Baralutma and Halhali.

The project was funded from Central government’s NLCPR.  In 2006, the State government took the project in its hand. The BRO promised to the complete the bridges as they started it. After a long time the bridge at Baralutma completed in 2008. But the remaining three bridges at Kulai, Rakhaltali and Halhali remained standstill. The BRO authority told that, as the cost of project increased very much, so they could no more complete the works with previous estimate. On the contrary, the State government stuck to the point that, the project was entitled to BRO. So they have to complete it. Now in this tug of war, the commoners became the worst sufferers.
