Training programme on cyber crime ends

Agartala, Feb 8(TIWN):The two day training programme on cyber crimes organized for police officers concluded on Saturday. The training programme was conducted here at police head quarter conference hall. The training was participated by DGP K.Nagraj and other police officers.
There is report of increase of cyber crimes in the state, the crime could not be brought under control as the police officers are not well trained. The state home department is reported to be worried about the rising incidents of cyber related crimes.
“Cyber crime is on the rise and we need to upgrade the cell. It is the need of the hour,” said a senior police officer.“Moreover, cyber crime is relatively new and our officers have to be trained to handle it,” he added.
All officers In charge of police stations, SDPO, Addl police super and SPs of all districts, DIGs and IGs attended the training programme.
The training was given by Dinesh Kumar Kurti, cyber crime expert from Bangaluru. Similar training would be conducted by police department at district level, sub divson level and police station level all over the state.
Hacking, publication of obscene contents, credit card and banking frauds among other cyber crimes have registered an annual increase of more than 30 per cent in the country in the past two years. Minstry of Home Affairs expressed that there was a need to strengthen cyber monitoring in the wake of growing use of Internet and social media by global terror outfits like ISIS to indoctrinate the youth.
