AGARTALA, Dec 4 (TIWN): Amid Tripura Government’s claims on the distribution of relief funds, proper compensation to the flood-affected families, often reports on deprivation continue to flash in the media. In such an instance Khokon Sarkar’s family survived in Kanchanmala without any government support and now is knocking door to door in the government office to get compensation After the only house they lived in collapsed in the flood, several months have passed since they applied for government assistance from the administration, but the poor farmer’s family is still not getting any government assistance.

This year, the flood caused extensive damage to the farmers' agricultural land and people's homes. Many people who were affected by the flood submitted written applications to the administration to receive government assistance, but the flood victims received nothing except 30 kg of free rice, 10 kg each, for three months amid the government’s claims on centering funding.

Khokan Sarkar’s home adjacent to the Kanchanmala Lakshmi Chara Ramakrishna Higher Secondary School under the Golaghati Assembly constituency was damaged in the flood.

Then, Khokan Sarkar submitted an application for government assistance to the Bikram Nagar Tehsil in the hope of government assistance, but even after so long, there is no hope for any help.

On Wednesday Khokon Sarkar's wife was forced to approach the media and said that they do not have the money to rebuild the house that was destroyed in the flood, for which they had applied for government assistance, but they have not received any government assistance yet.

She also said that after the flood, the government only provided 10 kg of rice per month for three months from the ration.

She said that crores of rupees have been given to the state government from different states to help the flood victims, and even various organizations and many social workers in the state have deposited money with the state government to help the flood victims, but where is that money?
