AGARTALA, Dec 3 (TIWN): A “Bangladesh Cholo Abhijan” rally that could trigger tension in the capital city and in border areas led by Ex-MP Pratima Bhowmik has led the police department to take stern action to prevent all sorts of provocation. To control the situation and to prevent such impractical movement that would tend to violate the border rules, West District police barricaded the Bangladesh Border at Akhaura. Talking to the media, SP West Kiran Kumar said that the rally which was already unpermitted was named as “Bangladesh Cholo” movement.
On this background, tightening the extra security, the barricades were put.
After protests turned violent in Bangladesh's Assistant High Commissioner’s office on Monday, the administration today canceled this kind of protest against Bangladesh.
A rally was organized by Sanatani Yuva under the ‘Bangladesh Cholo’ slogan but police did not allow them to proceed as the rally was not immune to legal permission.
As the rally did not receive permission, the agitators completed their protest standing in front of Rabindra Bhawan.
On the other hand, first time in history, the Bangladesh High Commissioner's office has suspended its Visa services and stopped all proceedings due to security concerns.
The decision was taken after an order came from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
All these developments are coming after yesterday’s violent protest at the High Commissioner’s office.
