AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): BJP’s ally IPFT has expressed concerns over the Pushbanta palace issue, saying it might trigger tension in the political atmosphere in the state. Recently Tripura government proposed that Pushbanta Palace which was the governor's house earlier, be developed into a luxury hotel under the Taj, which would preserve the historical monument. The project was proposed after observing many successful projects in other states with similar monuments.
BJP’s other ally that is Tipra Motha has objected to the proposal saying that, government should not indulge in business with historical moments and must consult with the royal family.
Denouncing such remarks that came from Tipra Motha, Tripura CM and Ministers told press that Pushbanta palace no more belongs to royal family and it’s up to government what to do with government property. But the government is ready to talk to the Tipra Motha leaders on that.
CM Dr. Manik Saha cited similar projects taken over by companies in Rajasthan too.
Tipra Motha declared a protest against the decision of the government. On the other hand, Tipra Motha’s two cabinet ministers Animesh Debbarma and Brishketu Debbarma are frozen over the debate, and yet to officially oppose the decision.
Nevertheless, concerning the significant effect of the palace’s project, the IPFT party reviewed the proposal and told the media on Monday that it might generate political turmoil in the state.
IPFT party also declared they are going to intensify their movement with Tipraland demand in the coming days.
