Two-day Wangala Utsav to be commenced on February 17

Agartala, February 6 (TIWN): With the joint initiatives of Department of Information and Cultural Affairs and Tripura Garo Union and with the support of Eastern Cultural Centre and Gomati district administration, two-day long state-level Wangala Utsav will be inaugurated at Natintila Mela ground under Udaipur sub-division on February 17. It would be continued till February 18.

Chief Executive Member of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) would inaugurate the Wangala Utsav in presence of chief guest of the function and Minister Naresh Jamatia.

MLA Madhav Saha, Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad- Suniti Saha, Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad- Himangshu Roy, chairman of Matabari Panchayat Samity- Rekharani Majumder and BAC chairman- Dohoram Reang would grace the dais as special guests.

The programme will be presided over by the president of Tripura Garo Union-cum-MDC Sanjib Marak while District Magistrate (DM) of Gomati- Sonal Goel and SDM of Udaipur- Ajit Debnath would attend the function as guests of honour.

During this two-day long festival, poet-summit, sports ceremony of traditional Garo society and a discussion meeting will be held. Besides, exhibition stalls will be opened by the various departments in the Wangala Utsav.

The closing ceremony will be presided over by the Tourism Minister- Ratan Bhowmik while executive member of ADC- Jaibahadur Jamatia would remain present as key speaker on February 18.
