AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M MLAs on Friday visited Melarmath stabbing incident victim Hari Shankar Saha’s house and met the family members. Hari Shankar Saha was killed by a youth Raju Roy entering his shop and in front of public, police continued to stab the Hari Shankar Saha. The incident happened on October 15 and Hari Shankar Saha breathed his last on October 16, at the GB Hospital. Today Left Front MLAs Sudip Sarkar, Nayan Sarkar and Ramu Das visited the victim’s house near Lal Bahadur Club, and met late Hari Shankar Saha’s son and widow.
The opposition MLAs demanded strict punishment of the culprit.
Talking to the family members, the opposition legislators expressed concerns about the law and order situation in the state, raising the question, if whether anyone is secure in this state.
The victim’s family also criticized police’s role in how they failed to save Hari Shankar Saha who was stabbed multiple times in front of police.
“Police was neither allowing me to enter nor they were going. Later, I could enter and took my father to IGM and from there he was referred to GB hospital,” said Hari Shankar Saha’s son.
