Former CM Manik Sarkar visited Ranir Bazar ; met minority families whose houses were set on fire

AGARTALA, Sep 19 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Thursday visited Ranir Bazar, Durga Nagar area, where around a dozen Muslim families houses were set to ablaze by ruling party-backed miscreants aided by outsiders. The victims depicted how brutally and in a planned way, the fire was set to their houses. Manik Sarkar said, “This incident was pre-planned and targeted with ill motive. The miscreants were taking the Jai-Sri-Ram slogan, which is a total abuse of Lord Ram’s name.”

CPI-M senior leader Pabitra Kar also visited the place with Manik Sarkar.

“Some people came to our house and said, Kali temple was vandalized. I was shocked by hearing and condemning this,” said a victim. She added, “After a while of the conversation, they again came to the spot and then I heard some chaos is going on. Then all of a sudden, they removed us from our houses and told us to get out of the houses if we wanted to survive. Then they gathered the pillows, blankets, and set fire.”

This incident has burnt 12 houses and 3 houses were heavily affected.

CM or any local leader from the BJP party did not visit the area and the local MLA cum Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on camera talked about supporting the accused person’s release from the police station.
