UDAIPUR, Aug 24 (TIWN): In the brutal murder case of Udaipur PGT English teacher Abhijit Dey, four persons were sent to police remand on Saturday. Abhijit Dey was killed by BJP goons led by leader Shankar Karmakar on August 9. Allegedly, Shankar Karmakar called Abhijit Dey and then beat him up with few more people which left him seriously injured. Udaipur police instead of taking action or inquiring about his health, arrested Abhijit Dey based on the complaints made by the people who beat him up. Later police took Abhijit Dey to hospital but soon brought him out of the hospital to produce him in the court. While producing before the court, Abhijit Dey fell sick and while taken to GB hospital, he died.

At GB Hospital, instead of post-mortem, the body was released. Later after seeing the marks on Abhijit Dey’s body, locals demanded a post-mortem which forced the administration to take his body for a post-mortem.

“Total four persons have been sent to police custody --- Jayanta Saha, Shankar Karmakar, Suman Madradji, Biswajit Saha”, said Govt Advocate Sumanta Chakraborty after the hearing completed on Saturday at Udaipur court.

Chakraborty also said, this remand was necessitated as many accused persons are still  absconding.
