Ahead of Rakhi Poornima, shops displayed with ‘Rakhi’ in Agartala

Agartala, Aug 10 (TIWN): All generations of Tripura people to celebrat Rakhi across State.

Talking to the businessmen, they said that the sales have gone high keeping the auspicious occasion ahead.

Though it happens to be the birthday of Lord Balabhadra,the elder brother of Lord Krishna, it is more known for Raksha bandhan. On this day every sister ties a ‘Rakhi’, (a decorative coloured thread), on the wrist of her brother, feeds sweet and in return gets a gift from the loving and caring brother.

The “Rakhi” is symbolic for brother’s protection for the sister.

But in Bengali community “Rakhi” is celebrated to strengthen the ties between Hindus and Muslims.
