AGARTALA, June 23 (TIWN): Opposition leader Jitendra Chowdhury on Sunday accused the BJP led State Government of being in nexus with a private medical college construction in Tripura without any bill or discussion in the Assembly. Addressing media, Jitendra Chowdhury said, the construction of an unaffiliated, unpermitted medical college in Dukli is funded by a Trinamool leader’s coterie who is now in Tihar jail in the cow smuggling racket and under CBI interrogations.
Chowdhury also said, government is planning to hand over the Indra Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Hospital to a private company at the same time.
“It proves, how this government is misusing public money, public property keeping everyone in sleep,” he added.
The private medical college named Santiniketan has been so far undiscussed in the Assembly. Raising the issue, Chowdhury said, “Any college construction must be approved in the Assembly. Once the bill is passed in the Assembly then affiliation like matters come. But without all these building construction is going on and the money is coming from corrupt politicians who are under CBI’s radar. High rank constitutional post holder of Tripura, who has been visiting West Bengal’s Birbhum frequently with government money is the kingpin.”
“As any hospital needs 100 bedded facility to get affiliation, so the government has targeted the IGM hospital. It is said, IGM hospital will be given to the private organization and for that the government did not discuss anything with the IGM hospital doctors. We strongly protest the matter. The government must review its decisions on this private college construction,” added Chowdhury.
