AGARTALA, June 13 (TIWN): Tripura’s organizations on Thursday sent pineapples to Oman, with a flagging-off ceremony took place at Agartala Railway station attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath along with his department's other high officials to inspire the trading trend. The pineapples will reach Guwahati and from there in flight, they will be transported to Oman. After the flag-off program, Ratan Lal Nath said, “We have sent 600 kg Queen Pineapple to Oman today with the initiative of some companies. At the same time, we received 5-ton pineapples’ order from Dubai and more 30 metric tons might go to Holand, as talks are underway regarding this. Already in Dubai, Qatar, Bangladesh the common countries where we sent pineapples earlier also."
"In last 5 years, we sent 33 ton pineapples abroad. Moreover, we also have sent pineapple to other states to help the farmers to earn more profits. In the last 5 year total 12,551 metric tons pineapples were sent to other states," added Nath.
"Tripura's other fruits are also in demand in other states. Even beetles which produced in Tripura are also in highly demanding. As a result of the exports, the farmers are benefited," added Nath.
