AGARTALA, February 1 (TIWN Exclusive): Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today conducting nitrogen purging in its 10 Km pipeline to charge it with gas connecting to Monarchak Power Plant from Sonamura Khedabari. The gas will be charged in the pipeline by midnight 12:00 AM today, said ONGC Asset Manager V P Mahawar to TIWN. The ONGC Executive Director Deepak Bakshi along with his delegation team today arrived here in the state and visited the Sonamura Khedabari site to inspect the gas charge to the pipeline. Tripura ONGC Asset Manager V P Mahawar remained present at the site. Also talking to TIWN today Monarchak Project Head S R Biswas said that once it receives gas from ONGC, then the NEEPCO power plant will go through certain tests on its system.

Monarchak now expects its system synchronization within one month, said Biswas.Talking to TIWN ONGC Asset Manager V P Mahawar said that in present of the ONGC Executive Director Deepak Bakshi and other delegation the ONGC in conducting nitrogen purging to charge pipeline at Sonamura Khedabari with gas. Later briefing its next procedure Mahawar said that the gas will be flared at Monarchak if required or else the Monarchak power plant will take up the gas on its system for its test run. The gas will be charged in the pipeline by 12:00 AM midnight today, told Mahawar to TIWN.

Mahawar said that the nitrogen purging will take much longer period today to restrict any exploration in the pipeline. And later after the purging of nitrogen the gas will charged in the 10 Km pipeline connecting to Monarchak power plant, said Mahawar.

He said the challenging 600 meter pipeline section below the Gomati River has also been completed using the technology of HDD machine. The line has been laid more than 10 meter below the river bed of Gomati and is completely safe.
However, later talking to TIWN today Monarchak Power Plant Project Head S R Biswas said that after it receives gas from the ONGC than the Monarchak will conduct certain tests of its system and then it will start its commissioning activities. In the commissioning activities the system has to undergo synchronization, and Monarchak expects the synchronization within one month, said Biswas. Adding to that Biswas further mentioned that after checking the gas loads in the turbine the Monarchak power plant will frame its schedule of gas and it will provided to the ONGC.
The Monarchak gas based thermal power plant will produce 65 MW power generations in its first phase.
During the year 2008 the ONGC has signed an agreement with the NEEPCO (GSA) to feed NEEPCO with gas for at least 15 years. The GSA was signed by ONGC Director In-charge of Marketing N K Mitra and NEEPCO Director (Finance) M R Ghosh.
