Manik blames media in corruption issue; Claims his govt to be honest against corruption

Agartala, February 1 (TIWN): Manik Sarkar targeted the media for publishing news about massive corruption recently unearthed in almost all sub-divisions and in all centrally sponsored funds likes of MGNREGA, NRHM, and PMGSY etc. Manik Sarkar categorically said," A section of news papers published from Agartala seems to have become very busy in defaming the LF Govt. Most of these papers are funded by Congress party and they work overtime in favour of Congress and against the LF Govt." CM Manik Sarkar tried to assure the people that LF Govt will never compromise in corruption issues and whenever any instance of corruption issue comes to the notice of this govt, it will act strongly against it.

Meanwhile in a roundabout way Manik Sarkar accepted that during the last fifty years CPI (M) party has not been able to increase its strength at the national level. He said," What we have done in these fifty years and where we have made mistakes will be reviewed in all party conferences starting from Unit level to District level and also in state level across the country. " Interestingly CPI(M) is celebrating its 50th years this year and now the strength of the party is such ( with merely 9 MPs in Lok Sabha) that it has practically most credibility at the national level. Besides, after being thrown out of power in West Bengal and Kerala, the party is in power only in Tripura. As such Manik Sarkar knows the importance of retaining the power in the state to retain his own influence in the Polit buru.

Quite expectedly Manik Sarkar did not an utter a single word about the massive corruption already been exposes in media and thanks to the initiative taken by the opposition leaders. The state govt in the last one year had gone through some tough situations with jolts from the High Court in 10323 terminated teachers' case , CM' close aid Law Secretary being asked to submit explanation for his humiliating note about HC and the Chief Justice . Manik Sarkar attacked the Modi led BJP Govt terming it to anti-people and anti-poor.

He said," Like the earlier Congress govt, this BJP Govt too is dangerous for the people. This govt is simply taking care of the industrialists and the corporate world. The so famous term ' Acchhe Din' seems to have become a far away dream. “Citing the importance of his own party Manik Sarkar said," Communist party is the only alternative for this country as its policies are to keep the interests of the poor. And in the current scenario all the likeminded parties are to stand united. In our party conferences we will stress for forming a suitable alternative for the countrymen." However, how many of the people have visualized the actual possibility is a million dollars question.
