Police have arrested the rape accused Pintu Das.

Speaking to reporters about the incident, Ripita Bhattacharya, OC of Kailasahar Women's Police Station, said that eleven-year-old victim’s father was a day laborer by profession and he died when she was little.

After the death of her father, her mother started working as a housekeeper. Recently, road construction work has started near the victim’s house.

A worker at the construction site Pintu Das of Laljuri area under Phatikrai PS was engaged in the work of this road. Yesterday afternoon, on the pretext of drinking water, he entered the victim’s house and asked for water. Victim’s mother was not at home at that time.

Taking the advantage of the situation, Pintu Das committed the heinous act.

The victim is now critical, and hospitalized.
