Blueprint for Roadway development placed in Tripura Assembly

AGARTALA, March 4 (TIWN): Tripura Govt has unfolded a blueprint for roadway development in Tripura during the Budget session 2024. Tripura Govt said to spend Rs. 2,000 crore for road development in next 4 years. In a statement during Budget session 2024, it was said, “State Government will take up massive road infrastructure works covering all 60assembly constituencies for new construction or redevelopment of 30 km road in each of the assembly constituency with total financial involvement of Rs. 2000.00 Crore over the period 15 of next 4 (four) years from State resources, RIDF and Special Assistance for Capital Investment.”

“During 2023-24, 135 kilometers (km) of road have been improved and strengthened. 1057 km of road have been maintained, and the construction of 5 RCC bridges has been completed. Moreover, the improvement of 73 different roads with a length of 267 km and the construction of 5 permanent bridges are being taken up under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF),” the budget 2024-25 has stated.

“Improvement of 42 km of road connecting 7(seven) habitations has been taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) during 2023-24. The total financial implication is Rs. 1411 Crore. I would like to inform this August house that out of 923.31 km of 6 different national highways, 486 km have already been developed to double lane with paved shoulder till December 2023. Moreover, 4 (four) more roads have been declared as National Highways. Its length is 229.25 km. During 2024-25, 285 km of road will be taken for improvement, 1900 km of road will be taken for maintenance, 500 km of PMGSY road will be taken for renewal and 10 new RCC bridges will be taken for construction,” the budget said.

“Under PMGSY, 303 km of roads will be taken up for upgrading to connect 20 (twenty) habitations with all-weather roads. Moreover, 34 nos. road projects with a total length of 326.45 km will be taken for improvement. State Government will take up massive road infrastructure works covering all 60assembly constituencies for new construction or redevelopment of 30 km road in each of the assembly constituency with a total financial involvement of Rs. 2000.00 Crore over the period 15 of next 4 (four) years from State resources, RIDF and Special Assistance for Capital Investment,” said the budget data.
