NEW DELHI / AGARTALA, March 2 (TIWN): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for going into the depths of the problem and finding a solution to end the dispute with Tipra Motha. After a tripartite agreement among the Govt of India, the Govt of Tripura and the Tipra Motha, Amit Shah held a press conference in Delhi saying, from today Tripura is going to be ‘Vivad Mukt’ (dispute-free). Talking to the media, Shah said, “Today is a historical day for Tripura. We have respected the history, solved the problems and accepted the facts. We are now going towards development.”

“Nobody can change the history. But the mistakes made in history can be resolved, by keeping the present situation in my mind. I am happy, that Tipra Motha and the other tribal parties and organizations have played a very constructive role,” said Saha.

Shah said, Dr Manik Saha has played a very important role in studying the entire matter and putting an end to the issue with a solution.

“We believe, Tripura will participate in Modi ji’s Vikasit Bharat project. When India will develop, Tripura also will be developed,” he added.

“Our Govt has worked towards making the Northeast violence-free. We talked to many organizations and over 10,000 people came to mainstream giving up the path of violence. That is the reason why there is an environment of development in the Northeast, “ said Shah.

“Either it’s about Bru agreement, or borders, Govt of  India has worked keenly to solve the issues and it is the last agreement as the Lok Sabha poll is happening soon. In 2019, the deal with NFLF, in 2020 Bru and Boro, in 2022 Adisbasi agreement, in 2022 Assam-Meglaya interstate border agreement, in 2023 Assam-Arunachal interstate agreement and ULFA agreement and many such agreements were made to end the disputes either for borders or for the issues of the community,” said Shah.

“It was Prdayot Manikya’s grandfather (Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya) who sheltered tortured Hindus from Bangladesh and some issues including clashes indeed happened after that. But I assure you, you do not have to struggle further for your rights. India Govt will work to secure everyone’s rights, “ said Amit Shaha.
