AGARTALA, Feb 1 (TIWN): Demanding 2022-STGT result publications and recruitment of graduate teachers, job aspirants staged a protest at the Education Department on Thursday. Talking to media, the job aspirants said, they are continuously pressuring the Govt to recruit them but no positive feedback has been received so far. “We are waiting since 2022, September month. The STGT result has not yet been declared. We checked the answer sheet after the examination and understood that we would pass the STGT examination. So many times, we placed deputation to the department. After a few days, election will be declared and they will say, they can not recruit due to election”, a job aspirant said.
“Whereas we are struggling to be recruited, everyday we see in newspapers how teachers’ shortage has been affecting the school education system. Especially at the graduate level (class-9-10), very less recruitment was done. In last 5 years only 612 teachers at Class-9 – 10 level were recruited, when the retiring teachers' numbers are more than that," he said.
“We appeal again to the Govt to recruit us and to mitigate the teachers’ crisis. Earlier, there was a legal obstacle in recruiting us but now the court also clarified that we can recruited. So, we demand that the govt should complete the recruitment process at the earliest and all candidates must be recruited at the same phase," he added.
