Nitya Bazaar/UDAIPUR, January 29(TIWN): Traditional Rai Utsav of the Malsum community was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Ratan Bhowmik on Wednesday night here at Nitya Bazaar under Killa Block. During this two day long festival the traditional cultural activities like dance, songs of the Malsum community will be shown.

Congress Leader Pradyut Debbarman was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sabhadhipati of Gomati Zila Parishad Suniti Saha remained present as Special Guest while MDC Joy Kishore Jamatia presided over the programme. 

Speaking on this occasion Ratan Bhowmik said," Festivals like Rai are the best means to promote the traditional cultural heritage of the tribal communities. And state govt too is keen to create awareness among the people about maintaining their culture." 

Pradyut Debbarman said," Whenever any tribal community needs help in preserving its cultural tradition, we are ready to help you. Tripura Royal family is even keen to promote the tribal culture at the national and international level as it has rich culture and heritage. " 

It is to be mentioned here that during the two day long Rai Utsav tribal communities especially the Mulsums gather in large numbers to observe Ker Puja and worship the God.
