AGARTALA, Dec 14 (TIWN): Opposition CPI-M has slammed BJP after the party organized a rally in Khowai dedicating it to the martyrs who were killed in a massacre in Khowai on December 12, 1996 where BJP leaders including CM Manik Saha accused CPI-M behind the massacre. Slamming BJP, Khowai CPI-M said, “People know what happened on the day. Terrorists have no political colour and BJP tried to claim that CPI-M workers did not die in the incident. It is an insult to Bazar Colony victims like Barun Bhattacharjee, Jodab GopeBarsha Goswami, Jaya Goswami, Bimal Majumder who were killed in the incident. Each of them was dedicated CPI-M party workers.”
“In Khowai, Prem Singh Orang, Upendra Debbrama, Khirod Debbarama, Kiranmala Debbarma, Nilkunda Kurui, Chandramohan Debbarma like so many comrades died in terrorist attacks but the Left Front Govt was strict against terrorism and ended terrorism in the state. Tripura TSR was awarded for their successful operation against insurgency”, said CPI-M leader Mahindra Chandra Das in press meet.
“Our party has always been beside the victim families. Govt tried to give jobs to the victims and the children who lost their parent, were provided economic support and aids for education. We want to ask the BJP Govt, what has it done for these 26 families in last 6 years who are victims of 1996 incident ?”, Das told media.
“This is just an ill attempt by the BJP to suppress the serious issues like Unemployment, crisis of work, starvation and poverty which is pushing parents to sell their 1 day old child, families are poisoning their own children and committing suicide due to poverty--- a total administrative failure everywhere. So instead of stretching such sensitive issues with fake allegations, BJP Govt should fill up the vacant posts and mitigate the job crisis and solve other major problems in the state”, he added.
