Agartala, Jan 28 (TIWN): The Lushai community of Jampui Hill of Tripura’s North District has decided to meet governor P.B.Acharya for setting up a Mizo regional council, Mizo convention leaders , an organization of the Lushai community would meet on 29th January to finalize the date for meeting the governor.
The senior leader of the convention Lian Jewela Sailo said the state government since long time was not serious about the development of Jampui Hill. Last six – seven years there were no activities of the convention, but the demand for regional council was raised three decades ago.
The convention leaders had met late Chief minister’s of the state Sudhir Ranjan Majumder, Nirpen Chakraborty and Dasrath Deb and demanded for Mizo regional council. But none of them was serious about their demands claimed Sailo. Recently a big rally was organized by the convention to mobilize support for the demand.Alongwith the demand of council, the leaders want official recognition of the Mizo language. According to the leader there are 12 villages in Jampui Hill, there are no sign of any development. Once Jampui famous for its organge orchards now it has become past. The demand for council ahead of TTAADC election has become a matter of concern for ruling CPIM .
