AGARTALA, Dec 10 (TIWN): Tripura Congress on Sunday staged a protest in Agartala voicing against the attacks on opposition parties in the state. Addressing media, a Congress leader said, ‘You must have seen how Congress worker Biswajit Banik’s shop was vandalized by miscreants on 3rd December after BJP won 3 states in state elections. His customers were also beaten up’. ‘Biswajit lodged FIR with names of some accused persons along with CCTV footage but after 7 days, East Agartala Police is silent. No action has been taken against the culprits’, said the Congress leader.
‘Same happened with Rupak Debnath of Banamalipur. His house was attacked and CCTV footage was also submitted to police but East Agartala Police are harassing him. The role of East Agartala Police is just unexpected’, said Congress agitator.
The protest rally started from Congress Bhawan and the rally participants protested before the SDPO Office and West Agartala PS.
