AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): A daily worker’s house developed a crack due to Saturday’s earthquake jolt in Chikanchara, Bishalgarh. Also, another few houses in Rautkhala were affected badly due to the earthquake.
The daily worker Shyamal Das has only one building in his home but it has developed multiple cracks around the walls. When the earthquake came, Shyamal Das was not at home. Later, when he returned, he found that his house developed cracks and now it has turned risky for him to live there. A Tahashildar official however visited his home and asked him to write an application and submit it with pictures so that compensation could be paid.
A local in Bishalgarh Rautkhala said, "Along with my house, a few more houses were affected. I have not visited other's houses yet as I am still counting my house's cracks. It's devastating".
In Melaghar also, same reports came that a few houses were affected due to earthquake.
Tripura was shaken by a jolt of earthquake this morning at 9 am, with no casualties reported. The source of the earthquake was Comilla, Bangladesh.
Tripura Disaster Management’s official said the tremor was felt in several parts of the northeastern region including Tripura, Mizoram, parts of Assam and Bangladesh.
