AGARTALA, Dec 2 (TIWN): Political parties in Tripura have geared up for the upcoming Lok Sabha Poll. A rally was held in Teliamura by CPI-M Teliamura sub-committee against the privatization of electricity and railway services and the increase in commodity prices.
A huge rally was held in Teliamura on Saturday voicing against unemployment, and daily lives' problems of the common men. The rally started from CPI-M Teliamura Sub-Divisional Office. The former Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar did not walk in the first row with the leaders but rather he walked with the common public in the last part of the rally. CPI-M Teliamura sub-committee secretary Hemant Kumar Jamatia and former MLA Manindra Chandra Das spoke at the beginning of the meeting.
Hemant Kumar Jamatia slammed the BJP Govt saying that the current economic condition of the state has reached to such a level that people have to sell their children due to poverty.
Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar while addressing the gathering, lashed out at the BJP Govt over suicides of people due to poverty.
“Before elections, BJP’s promise was different than BJP Govt’s activities now. People are selling their newborn baby for money, and committing mass suicides but this Govt is silent”, said Sarkar.
“The Left Govt always worked in favour of the people. Amid no cooperation from the Central Govt, our Govt distributed MGNREGA, TUEP works but now the BJP Govt has stopped everything. Pending wages have further expanded the crisis in people’s lives”, said Sarkar.
He slammed ICAT Dept for using public money for photoshoots of the CM and Ministers, and distributing advertisements, when in reality, no developmental work is going on.
