The housewife Mani Datta, W/O-Narayan Datta, resident of Bijoynagar, Sabroom has left her husband, two sons and a daughter behind.

Recently, her daughter was tied in marriage but in this society, daughter’s marriage is costly and like all parents, the family also had to buy furniture, gold etc for their daughter and groom. All these turned into a massive debt burden.

The family had taken loan from a private Finance organization which was pressuring them to clear the debt with high interests.

Her sons were working very hard to mitigate the debt but amid all these, she attempted suicide.

On Thursday, one of her sons spotted his mother was vomiting. She was rushed to Sabroom hospital. After 12 hours, she was referred to Santir Bazar District hospital but hospital Doctors declared her dead.

Question also raised over the health services qualities of subdivisional hospitals. Poisoned patients often allegedly do not get proper treatment, including capital city’s GB hospital.
