AGARTALA, Nov 23 (TIWN): Amid Minister Ratan Lal Nath’s claims about 15,168 employment was generated in last 6 years, Tripura Veterinary College’s future is bleak due to a shortage of employees, and other infrastructure related crisis problems. Center has asked Tripura Govt to stop national level admission that was preserved 15% for other states' students in 2023-24. In a letter to Tripura Animal Husbandry Dept Minister Sudhangshu Das, Central Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Purushottom Rupala said, “Please refer to your letter no-1910 dated 02.09.2023 regarding non-fulfillment of minimum standards in resect of College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, R.K.Nagar, Tripura, under Tripura University and proposal of recommending to “stop admission” for the Academic year 2023-2024”.
The reasons cited for the cease the national level admission for the Academic year are :
- There is a shortage of 41 teaching staff (17 Professors, 12 Associate Professors and 12 Assistant Professors).
- Veterinary Clinical Complex is grossly inadequate.
- The laboratory of various departments is deficient in space.
“Hence, it was decided not to allow students under the 15% All India Admission for the current academic year in the said college due to nonfulfilment of minimum standards. However, the progress made with regard to fulfilling the deficiencies in the college is noted and would be considered while taking decision for stoppage of admission”, said the Minister at the end of the letter.
